Gunner
Gunner is an animation studio based in Detroit, Michigan. Their website is simple clean, and easy to navigate. Being an art studio, the website is extremely minimal when it comes to text. They let the still images from their work speak for themselves, and the wide variety of art styles invites viewers to watch whatever compels them. When you click on one of Gunner's projects, you can not only view the video, but look at stills and illustrations pulled from it. It provides a small bit of insight into the process and the desired style of a particular animation, which is interesting for both casual viewers and animation enthusiasts alike.
Ravelry
Ravelry is a website dedicated to knitting and crochet. While the site doesn't particularly stand out aesthetically, and it fact looks quite out of date and cluttered, it is well-designed in terms of organization and user-friendliness. There are hundreds of types of yarns and thousands of patterns to search from, all created and shared by thousands of crafters. It's as if Etsy, Pinterest, and Joann Fabrics combined into a website. Combining so many different elements is an impressive feat when it comes to all the information that needs to be included. Ravelry is essentially a forum, shop, and social media website that allows users to customize and create to their heart's content.
GoodGood
GoodGood is a website that is no longer updated, as its creators have moved on to other projects. Still, it's a well-designed website that showcases interesting and innovative projects. Its formatting is similar to that of a news site, but GoodGood is unique in that it only features the positives. This is a clever way to provide a familiar interface to users, while simultaneously avoiding the negativity and occasional horror that is often found in actual news. The site is creative in both concept and design, so it's a bit of a shame that it's inactive. Still, it's good-good that the people who created it are working on new and better things.
